Zirc offers an extensive line of dental products that improve organization, vision and efficiency in a dental practice. Among those products, Mr. Thirsty has transformed the way many practitioners perform at chairside.
Not only is Mr. Thirsty significantly decreasing procedure times, it is also providing patient comfort and improving the procedure experience. This all-in-one device for isolation, retraction and evacuation enhances patient comfort with its smooth design and built-in bite block. The convenience of this product allows the practitioner to place in seconds, with no pre or post-processing needed.
Mr. Thirsty allows practitioners to think “outside the dental chair” and understand the amount of time that can be saved. That time is then utilized towards improving patient education, getting ahead of the daily schedule and being able to increase patient flow.
One of the biggest advantages that Zirc has seen is how dentists are able to perform alone with Mr. Thirsty and without the need of an assistant. Though this may seem negative to the role, imagine how effective this can be for emergency procedures or for situations where having a dental assistant is not an option.
Dr. Grant Encalade recently shared with Zirc about how using Mr. Thirsty improved the performance of several dental professionals while they were changing the lives for the people of Honduras:
A Honduras Mission Trip with Dr. Jane & United with the Same Love
By Dr. Grant Encalade
Like many developing countries, the nation of Honduras suffers from a lack of dental and medical care. This is due to a number of things— including a shortage of well-trained of health care professionals in the area, lack of adequate facilities, and the level of poverty that the majority of Hondurans have become accustomed to. United with the Same Love is a non- profit organization that aims to make a dent in some of these overwhelming problems.
The organization’s motto is “A smile is the same in every language.” Dentist and Texas- native Dr. Jane Estes Weatherbee started this non-profit organization 10 years ago. Dr. Jane began this endeavor as an individual dentist, making annual trips to pull rotten teeth alongside her children and a few volunteers via a mobile dental set-up.
Thanks to donations from hospitals and dentists around the United States, her dream of making a difference for the people of Honduras has developed into a dental clinic in Choluteca, Honduras with 9 fully functional dental operatories with plans to add more. Dr. Jane hopes that the clinic will eventually run full-time, equipped as a Honduran dental school and public health facility.
For the past 4 years, the clinic has been up and running, able to serve the people Honduras with not only extractions, but the ability to actually save teeth and smiles. The clinic is now providing root canal therapy, restorative dentistry, oral surgery, pediatric dentistry and dental hygiene. Dental teams made up of volunteers including dentists, dental technicians, dental students, dental hygienists and a sterilization crew are taken in annually and put on these full force clinics. The team works constantly in its time in Choluteca, serving up to 100 people with multiple dental procedures per day.
Donations from companies like Henry Schein and Zirc really help to make these efforts possible! Where dental assistants are limited, Mr. Thirsty enables these dental professionals to work comfortably and effectively, providing the best care possible to those most deserving.
